Autumn Book Tag!

Friday, October 18, 2013

I was tagged by Heather @ Stacks and Shelves to do this and it's good because it's been more than a month since I've blogged!

What is your favorite thing about autumn?
Walking on crunchy leaves.

What book reminds you of school?
The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe. It was the first story I read in English class in high school and that's how I learned what the word connoisseur means.

What is one of your favorite autumn-related book covers? I literally cannot think of one. I even went through my goodreads shelves.

What is your favorite Halloween story? This is not a Halloween story but it does take place during autumn and there is a costume ball involved sort of. Old Magic by Marianne Curley is set in modern times but magic exists, etc.

What are some of you favorite horror films? The Skeleton Key (not really horror). Misery is a great one, too. Also not really horror?

What is a film release you're looking forward to this autumn? Literally none - but Supernatural started season 9 so! I'm all set!

What are three books you want to read this autumn? Doctor Sleep by Stephen King (currently reading)
Snowed In by Rachel Hawthorne
Divergent by Veronica Roth

What are you reading this month?

Finally Friday! Goodreads Challenge update...again.

Ah, Friday.  How sweet it is...

I have...not caught up in my Goodreads Challenge.  My Labor Day Read-A-Thon turned into me finishing 1 and reading 2 other books and actively ignoring all the rest I had to read.

The ones I read...

Something About You by Julie James (FBI/Us Attorney #1) (4 stars)
Trust Me On This by Jennifer Crusie (4 stars)
Scarlet by Marisa Meyer (Lunar Chronicles #2) (5 stars)

...were STELLAR though so I'm thinking it was a win regardless. I'm annoyed it took me so long to start Scarlet - I should have listened to my friend and read it as soon as I got it.

This weekend I have quite a few errands to run and other places to go (Fall Out Boy concert because I'm 16 again) so I will probably only read 1-2 books.  Hopefully. Picking from these:

I've already "started" It Had to be You, meaning I have opened the first page and put my bookmark inside.  MAYBE I can finish that in one night, but it's a pretty long book.  And I get pretty distracted...

We'll see.

Finally Friday and Labor Day Read-a-Thon!

Friday, August 30, 2013

It's Finally Friday, as it is every week, and yet there's always a point during the week where I think Friday might never come again.  But, here we are on the cusp of a holiday weekend and so, of course, everyone decides to "work" from home.  Except my team.  Here we are.  All four of us.

This week I finished The Boyfriend League and Labor of Love both by Rachel Hawthorne.  These are YA romance-y books (fluff, if you will) that took me about 3 hours each to read so it was easy to use them to boost up my progress for the Goodreads Challenge (as you can see, I'm still 7 books behind schedule...sigh).

Tonight I'll be finishing Something About You by Julie James, another contemporary romance, what a surprise.

Labor Day Weekend Read-A-Thon!
Soooooo we've got ourselves a 3 day weekend here and since everyone and their mom will be down the shore, I'm going to stay in (maybe out on my deck) and read the shit out of my TBR books.  Here's what I'm choosing from:

I'm hoping to get through 5 of them done this weekend, but I imagine that will depend on which ones I choose.  I anticipate them all being fairly easy reads (expect for maybe Divergent), and I'll continue to read books like this until I'm on track for my Goodreads Challenge.  As much as I want to read the next book in A Song of Ice and Fire I really do NOT have room for it right now.

Maybe as my December book.  Winter is coming, after all, right?
